The researchers found that people who are using the dating apps like Tinder are more interested in short-term or casual sex in relation to the non-users. The student aged between 19 and 29 years were the part of 641 participants whom behaviour get studied by the researchers.
The researchers say that users of dating apps like Tinder and Bumble are showing increased levels of “sociosexual orientation.” They found to be interested in having sex being outside of any committed relationship. This research includes an equal number of men and women to know about their mindset towards sociosexual orientation. It concludes that women are using Tinder for positive self-affirmation while men are using it for casual sex.
Mons Bendixen who is an associate professor at NTNU’s Department of Psychology says,”Dating app users don’t have more casual sexual partners than others with the same short-term preference.”
Researchers say that Tinder is like bar side where people try to hook up with someone and found the same result maximum number of time. Now the people like to do the same task while seating at their home by using what technology is offering to them. The study also tells that women are more likely to spend hours on such apps while men take some really quick decisions.
